Organizing a concert without a permit, IPTA faces a fine of RM25,000
KUALA TERENGGANU: A public higher education institution (IPTA) in Kuala Nerus faces a RM25,000 fine following the organization of a concert at the educational center without permission from the local authority (PBT).
The matter was confirmed by Exco Local Government, Housing, Health and Environment, Datuk Alias Razak.
According to Alias, the compound notice was issued by the Kuala Terengganu City Council (MBKT) under the by-laws, MBKT Entertainment and Entertainment Enactment 2002.
"The concert organized at the university on June 10 was held without any permit application," he said when contacted by Sinar Harian , here, on Sunday.
Previously, a 37-second video showing a concert said to be held in the hall of a university in Terengganu went viral on social media.
Based on the viral video, it is believed that the concert was attended by male and female students of the university and took place in mixed conditions between men and women.
Following the spread of the video, Terengganu's Exco for Sharia Implementation, Education and Higher Education, Datuk Satiful Bahri Mamat ordered an investigation into the matter.
He said the concert was against the Terengganu State Entertainment, Cultural Performance, Tourism and Sports Guidelines which had been enforced by the state government before
