PUTRAJAYA: The Prime Minister of China, Li Qiang was given an official welcome at Dataran Perdana, Bangunan Perdana Putra, here today.
Li, who arrived in Malaysia last night, was greeted by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at 9.30am before the national anthems of both countries were played.
Li then inspected the line of honor consisting of three officers and 103 members of the First Battalion of the Royal Malay Soldier Regiment led by Major Adibadiuezshah Ahmad.
Also present at the ceremony were both Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Cabinet ministers, foreign diplomats and senior government officials.
Li and Anwar then held a bilateral meeting to discuss matters related to relations between Malaysia and China and exchange views on regional and international issues involving mutual interests.
The two leaders are also scheduled to witness the exchange of several Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) and agreements in various areas of cooperation.
It includes the digital economy, green development, tourism, housing and urbanization development, higher education, science and technology and the export of agricommodities to China.
Li, who assumed the position in March last year, arrived at the Bunga Raya Complex at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), Sepang at 8.44pm last night.
In 2023, China remains Malaysia's largest trading partner for 15 consecutive years since 2009, with a trade volume of RM450.84 billion (US$98.90 billion).
