Police have confirmed that the bomb threat received by MOTAC was a hoax.

 



UPDATE

 The police confirmed that the package addressed to the Office of the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing was a fake bomb threat.


Putrajaya District Police Chief, A. Asmadi Abdul Aziz said, preliminary investigation found that a package containing explosives similar to the bomb was sent via J&T courier at 11.19am on Wednesday.


"The package was taken and brought up to the 14th floor at 2.45pm and when it was opened it was found to be placed with PVC pipes, wires and 'timers'," he said when met by reporters at the MOTAC compound earlier.



Staff and visitors at Motac were ordered to evacuate the building following an alleged bomb threat in the building.

Citing Astro Awani's report , the bomb is suspected to have been placed on the 14th floor of the building.


The incident was also shared by Senior Assistant Vice President, Branded Content, Astro Awani, Zaiful Mohd Ariffin who was at the scene to attend a meeting.


Zaiful said that the package was sent using a delivery service.


"Ministry staff have seen the package and it looks like a bomb. At the moment we still don't know about the package.


"But as a safety measure, staff were instructed to evacuate the building," he said.


It is understood that the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Team (JBPM) has been at the scene of the incident.
