Alor Setar: Belantek State Assembly Member Datuk Mohd Isa Shafie died at Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital (HSAH), Sungai Petani, last night.
The news of Mohd Isa's death was shared by Kedah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor on his Facebook page last night.
"I received news that YB (Honourable) Dato (Allahyarham Mohd Isa) passed away at 11.23pm at Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital, Sungai Petani.
"My condolences to all the family members (of the deceased)," he said through a message uploaded on his Facebook last night.
Previously, the media reported that Mohd Isa, 69, who is also a member of the Kedah Pas Committee received treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at HSAH for suffering from a bacterial infection in the heart, lungs and kidneys last month.
In the 14th General Election (GE), Mohd Isa from PAS won the Belantek Dun seat with a majority of 2,574 votes after getting 9,600 votes defeating Barisan Nasional candidate Datuk Mohd Tajudin Abdullah (7,026 votes) and PKR candidate Abdul Rashid Abdullah (2,376 votes).
Kedah which did not hold a state election (PRN) simultaneously with the 15th GE last November will hold a PRN in the near future along with five other states.
