MELAKA: The Melaka state government is planning to develop a German Industrial Park in the Green Technology City, Ayer Keroh, here, to accommodate investment companies from the country.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh said the industrial park in an area of 464.58 hectares is expected to accommodate 20-30 companies and be equipped with various basic facilities.
He said the proposal was a follow-up to positive developments involving the investment of several German companies operating in the state in addition to new investment prospects.
"It is expected that the three existing companies operating in Melaka, namely Infineon Technologies, Muehlbauer ID Services and Leuze Electronic, will add new investments of RM3.6 billion in the next two to three years.
"Three more potential new companies from Germany have also shown interest in investing in Melaka with an estimated investment of RM400 million," he said at a press conference after chairing the Melaka State Government Meeting (MMKN) here, on Wednesday.
In addition, Ab Rauf said the German Week event will also be organized next year in conjunction with the Malacca Visit Year 2024 (TMM 2024) event.
The week-long program, which is targeted to be held between April and June, will be attended by German investment companies in various industrial sectors as well as being a platform to introduce products or technology, culture and food of the local community to further enliven TMM 2024.
