Ammar appointed as the new Director General of Tourism Malaysia

PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Ammar Abd. Ghapar was appointed as the new Director General of the Malaysian Tourism Promotion Board effective April 12, 2023.
In a statement from Tourism Malaysia on Friday, the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing agreed to officially appoint Ammar to replace Datuk Zainuddin Abdul Wahab who retired on April 10.
He was previously the Senior Director of the International Promotion Division (Americas, Europe and Oceania).
Throughout his 35 years in the public service, Ammar has also held the position of Senior Director of Management in addition to leading the Strategic Planning Division and the Domestic & Events Division of Tourism Malaysia.
In 2021, Ammar also heads the Secretariat of the Travel Bubble Task Force to drive recovery efforts in the tourism industry affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
He is also an Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Hotel and Tourism Management, UiTM until now.
