JOHOR BAHRU, Nov 10 -- A total 60 police officers and rank-and-file at the Segamat district police headquarters (IPD) underwent screenings recently after they were identified as close contacts of a detained Myanmar national murder suspect who was COVID-19 positive.
Johor Police chief, Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said they were now undergoing self quarantine while waiting for the result of the screening.
‘’The Segamat IPD has also been sanitised and is still operating as normal currently,’’ he told reporters after visiting a roadblock at the Skudai Tol, here, today.
He said this when asked to comment on rumours that there were COVID-19 positive cases at the Segamat IPD.
Ayob Khan said the 29-year-old Myanmar man was detained at the Segamat IPD lock up on suspicion of involvement in the murder of a 44-year-old Bangladesi on Nov 3 before being found COVID-19 positive recently.
