KOTA BHARU: Two enforcement officers were arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for being suspected of involvement in the re-registration of disqualified vehicles.
It is understood that the disqualified vehicle should be sold as a 'scrap' vehicle and cannot be legally re-registered for use on the road.
According to sources, the two law enforcement officers were arrested at MACC Putrajaya Headquarters by Kelantan MACC officers after being called to testify.
He said both of them were arrested at about 12.30 midnight last night and the MACC is now in the process of obtaining a remand order.
"Preliminary investigations found that the vehicle involved in the transaction was the one confiscated in the arrest of a drug case.
"We have also taken the statements of several more individuals related to this case and we do not rule out that there will be several more arrests in this case," he said.
Kelantan MACC Director, Rosli Hussin when contacted confirmed the arrest of the two enforcement officers.
He said the amount of bribery and the value of the vehicles involved had not yet been obtained and the case would be investigated in accordance with Section 17a of the MACC Act 2009.
