PETALING JAYA: Kamarulzaman Mat Salleh has been appointed as Kuala Lumpur mayor, effective April 17.
Chief Secretary Zuki Ali said in a statement that his appointment is in line with subsection 4(2) of the Federal Capital Act 1960.
“I believe with his experience, he can strengthen the administration and local authorities under City Hall (DBKL) for the benefit of the public and the government,” said Zuki.
Kamarulzaman, who is DBKL’s executive director (project management), is replacing Mahadi Che Ngah whose term ended on March 31.
Kamarulzaman began his career in DBKL in 1991 and has 32 years’ experience managing the city as well as being involved in Kuala Lumpur’s policy planning.
He graduated from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in 1987 and holds a bachelor’s degree in surveying (property management).
