KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 11 -- Police have arrested four individuals, including a woman, believed to be involved in the raw water pollution in Sungai Selangor which caused unscheduled water supply disruption in several areas in the Klang Valley since yesterday afternoon.

Selangor CID chief Datuk Fadzil Ahmat said all the suspects, aged between 33 and 43, were nabbed in Gombak, Damansara and Kelana Jaya between midnight and early morning today.

He said the initial investigation found that the woman was a nominee of a company registered with the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM), which rented a premises at Jalan Velox 2, Rawang, while a local man and his employee, a Bangladeshi man, were stocking chemicals at the premises.

In a statement this morning, Fadzil said the pollution was believed to be caused by the activity of dumping chemical waste into a manhole at the premises, which is suspected to continue to flow to the contaminated areas, and the police will apply for a remand order against all suspects in Selayang Court later today.

He said the investigation was carried out in accordance with Section 430 of the Penal Code for mischief that caused water supply disruption to several areas around the Klang Valley.
