Lovers’ quarrel ends in death
MALACCA: A 23-year-old woman was stabbed to death by her childhood sweetheart following a heated argument in Taman Limbongan Permai in Tengkera, here.
The boyfriend later attempted to take his own life by stabbing himself with the knife he used in the 4am incident yesterday.
It was not immediately known what triggered the fiery quarrel between the classmates, who had been romantically involved for the past 10 years.
The dead woman, identified as Goh Meng Yee, who worked in a cybercafe, was found lifeless in a room in her boyfriend’s family house.
The man, who stabbed himself three times in the abdomen, was rushed to the Malacca Hospital and is being treated in the intensive care unit.
Melaka Tengah OCPD Asst Comm Salehhudin Abd Rahman said the man stabbed himself after stabbing his lover.
He said police found the weapon used in the stabbing in a room.
“We are still probing the motive and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code,” he said.
It is learnt that the two had been living together since 2011 and were supposed to get married by next year.
But the relationship turned sour recently when the man told his mother, a divorcee, last Saturday that he could no longer live and preferred to die.
The man’s 19-year-old brother, identified as Edward, said the couple had a heated argument between 9pm and 10pm on Sunday.
“We only realised that their argument ended in death when my mother returned home after getting a distress call from my brother,” he said.
He said his injured brother was sitting on a sofa in the hall and continued saying that he wanted to die.
