Cheeky kiss lands Pakistani student in jail
KUALA LUMPUR: For kissing a girl, a Pakistani student has landed himself in jail and fined RM1,800.
Syed Hassan Lal Gilani, 24, admitted to a charge of molesting a 24-year-old clerk by kissing her cheek at a condominium unit in Jalan Klang Lama on Aug 30.
The engineering student had gone to the unit at 10.30am that day and asked the clerk for an iron.
When she came out from her room, he held her head to kiss her but she tried to avoid him and the kiss landed on her right cheek.
When she rejected his request for another kiss by uttering "No" three times, Syed Hassan immediately went back to his girlfriend's room. The clerk lodged a report on Sept 2.
Syed Hassan was picked up at the KL International Airport on Dec 8 when he wanted to return to his country, said his lawyer S Seelan when pleading for leniency before Magistrate Erry Shahriman Nor Aripin on Thursday.
Seelan said Syed Hassan was remanded for 18 days since his arrest and was remorseful of his actions.
"He came here to further his studies (at a private college in Subang) in electric and electronic engineering. Please consider his remand period and impose a day's jail and a lower fine," added Seelan.
Syed Hassan, whose family members were seated in public gallery, nodded and sighed in relief when the magistrate jailed in a day and imposed the fine.
