KUALA LUMPUR: A 28-year-old salesman was sentenced to five months' jail by the magistrate's court yesterday for using criminal force against a police officer.
Azizi Haqeem Abd Aziz pleaded guilty to committing the offence near Wangsa Walk shopping mall here about 3am on Tuesday.
In sentencing him, magistrate Ashraf Rezal Abdul Manan told the accused that his action could have caused the death of a police officer.
According to the facts, police officer Mohd Nazli Baharom was manning a roadblock at Jalan Bangsar when he saw a car making a U-turn and speeding off.
Several policemen chased the car and ordered the driver to stop. But Azizi, who was driving the car, did not stop. He tried to ram into several motorcycles ridden by police personnel before being stopped near Wangsa Walk shopping mall.
Azizi also pleaded guilty to failing to possess his MyKad. For this, he received another two months' jail.
