KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) is asking all parties to give space to the authorities to conduct an investigation into the murder of autistic child, Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin.

Its minister, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, said that the irresponsible actions of a few parties in disclosing the details of the alleged child murder case, could change public opinion and interfere with the police investigation.

"Whatever is our guide, let it come from the authorities. Meaning, and the assurance given by the police, either the Inspector General of Police (Tan Sri Razarudin Husain) or the Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain), repeatedly in the case of Zayn Rayyan.

"The incident happened a few months ago, and with the latest developments, of course in this process the police (involve) whatever new evidence is discovered (will conduct an investigation), that is the principle of the investigation of murder cases.

"So in this matter, I say give space to the police. If it is said that information is leaked and so on, he changes or creates his own sentiments in the public, and that does interfere with the police investigation," he said in a press conference here on Friday.

Before that, he attended the Field and Posthumous Rank Ceremony and the Home Minister's Pure Values Implementation Program together with the PDRM at the Malaysian Police Training Center (Pulapol), here.

Commenting further, Saifuddin Nasution said as emphasized by the Prime Minister, the investigation involving the Zay Rayyan case and the acid attack incident against Selangor FC striker Faisal Halim must be done professionally and in accordance with the law.

"Prime Minister, it should be done carefully and cautiously and there should be no elements that impair the quality of the investigation.

"Always remember that the people's expectations, especially in high-profile cases, are high. They want the individual responsible to be acted upon immediately," he said.

Saifuddin Nasution added, there is no doubt about the competence of the police to solve high-profile cases and bring the responsible parties to justice.
