KUALA LUMPUR : The Kuala Lumpur International Film Academy Awards 2024 (KLIFAA 2024) managed to attract the attention of many filmmakers from around the world when they received 3,135 entries from 98 countries including Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, India, Bangladesh, Iran, France , United Kingdom and Mexico.
The chairman of KLIFAA, Tengku Azlan Sultan Abu Bakar said, the encouraging response received from film art activists from all over the world had a positive impact on the organization of the event for the first time this time.
"Tonight, KLIFAA 2024 was officially launched. I, as the Chairman together with the committee members consisting of those who are skilled in this field, are very proud of the reception given to world films not only from our country but from all over the world.
"Out of the 3,135 entries received from 98 countries, it gives us a good spirit to continue this effort and also gives space to artists who already have a name or not yet a name for their future involvement in the film industry," he said at the Opening Ceremony of KLIFAA 2024 which took place at the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Center, today.
According to him, the organization of the event is also one of the ways to teach the young generation who are interested in the art field to venture into it and become popular in the future.
"I think this is a stepping stone and we have heard the name of the late Tan Sri P. Ramlee who was very famous who used to be an actor, director and singer where we don't have many talented people today either at the national or international level.
"The organization of KLIFAA 2024 is a way to further improve the standard of the world's film industry and, God willing, if what we are working on happens, it will open the eyes of the whole world that Malaysia is a hub of the film world," he said.
KLIFAA 2024 is a prestigious international award event that is organized for the first time in this country and is scheduled to take place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center (KLCC) on 7 to 11 August 2024.
This event, which carries the theme 'Inspiring Brilliance, Igniting Passion', displays the spirit of the festival, aiming to unite cultures, spark thought and inspire creativity on a global scale.
Participation in this event is open to all artists from all over the world whether in the field of Feature Films, TV Dramas, Documentaries, Short Films and Animation. The period for competition and non-competition categories starts from 1 March to 31 May 2024.
