PUTRAJAYA: The three leaders of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) related to Islam from this country who are listed in the Terrorist Checkpoint (TSC) by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), do not have any records related to terrorist activities.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail who confirmed the matter said it was based on a review of the security records of the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) against 359 people from 53 NGOs who participated in Ops Ihsan.

He said identity checks had been carried out on all the individuals concerned, before they were involved in the humanitarian operation.

"Based on our review, all the NGOs involved in Ops Ihsan, police security records (show) none were involved in terrorism issues, they are 'clean'," he said at a special press conference here today.

The media previously reported three leaders from Islamic-related NGOs from Malaysia who actively manage aid to West Asia, were listed in the Terrorist Screening Center (TSC) by the American Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Following the report, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs ordered the three individuals not to be involved in Ops Ihsan which manages the delivery of humanitarian aid from Malaysians to the Palestinians in Gaza.

Ops Ihsan was inspired by former Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir as a collaboration platform between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and NGOs to mobilize support and humanitarian aid for the Palestinian people.

Asked if there was a police report from the three listed leaders, Saifuddin said only one police report had been received from the Ops Ihsan coordinator regarding the matter for further action.

"Ops Ihsan has a coordinator... So when a name is exposed, he makes a police report, and the police will start an investigation," he said.

Meanwhile, Saifuddin said the presence of an Algerian man, Mawla Muhammad Amin al-Idrisi, who claims to be the great-grandson of the Prophet Muhammad SAW to this country to give a religious lecture, will continue to be closely monitored.

He said if the Algerian man was found to be doing illegal activities, then his side would cooperate with the state authorities to take action.

"From the aspect of monitoring, we will continue to see whether or not there are elements that may threaten national security, for example. We will also look at what forms of activity are the spread of ideologies that conflict with our laws," he said, adding that no police report had been received regarding matter so far.
