BANDAR BARU BANGI: Five food delivery men were charged in the Bandar Baru Bangi Court for killing a male driver to death following an accident in Taman Pelangi, Semenyih 2, on 20 February.
The accused, Mahazir Nordin, 43, Mohd Yuree Ranoff Mohd Bachuri, 41, Syamdul Qamar Ayob, 40, Azharul Azuan Mohd Azan, 34, Tengku Izham Tengku Hamid, 22 arrived at 8.58 this morning and were also represented by lawyer Mohd Hafiz.
When the charges were read out, all the accused nodded their understanding in front of Magistrate Nurdiyanah Mohd Nawawi.
However, no confession was recorded as the case was under the jurisdiction of the high court.
According to the charges, they are accused of killing a man, Shahril Samad, 41 years old, at Jalan TPS 2/3, Taman Pelangi Semenyih 2, Beranang here at 9.54pm, 20 February.
The charge is made according to Section 302 of the Penal Code together with Section 34 of the same code which provides for the death penalty or imprisonment between 30 and 40 years and if there is no death penalty, shall be whipped 12 times.
The prosecution was handled by the Deputy Public Prosecutor, Siti Nur Liyana Mohd Sulaiman.
In the meantime, the court stated that no bail was given and fixed April 25 for the submission of the forensic status, chemical report and autopsy.
Earlier, the media reported that the victim's hands were tied before being pulled out of the car by members of the public after the accident and beaten to death.
The incident on February 20 is believed to have happened after the man driving a gray Proton Saga was involved in an accident with a food delivery man.
Immediately after the accident, the victim was said to have been chased by members of the public to Taman Pelangi Semenyih 2, before his car skidded and hit the fence of a residential area.
The police arrested the accused around the Semenyih and Beranang areas to help with the investigation.
The police also arrested two other men aged 22 and 39 respectively in Kajang who are suspected of being involved in the incident.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which is murder, while the traffic police also opened investigation papers under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
