KUALA LUMPUR: Almost two months on, Nadia Fasha Qistina, 19, is eight surgeries in and still in pain from an acid attack on her way home from work last month.
Her father, Azman Shah Mohammad, 43, has spent almost his entire savings to pay for life saving treatment and corrective surgeries.
"It has been almost two months since my child received treatment at Sungai Buloh Hospital and has undergone eight surgeries to repair skin tissue and save her eyes," said Azman.
Nadia suffered severe injuries after being attacked with acid while returning from work in Denai Alam on Nov 8.
At the time of the incident, her father said, Nadia had only been working for six days at a clinic there, and was attacked by a man posing as an e-hailing driver who later fled the scene.
"The incident caused my child to suffer severe injuries to the face, body, and legs, requiring eight surgeries. The cost of a piece of skin tissue reaches RM4,000, and I have already paid RM32,000 to buy eight pieces of skin tissue," he added.
Azman, who only works as a burger seller, said that every week, he also has to pay RM1,600 to buy Bactigras, an antiseptic dressing for her healing burns and all of these expenses need to be borne personally.

"The doctor also informed me that my daughter might have to stay in this hospital for a year and needs to rely on medication for the rest of her life," he said.
He mentioned that his wife also fell ill and experienced panic attacks after the incident and is also being treated in the same hospital.
"I sincerely hope the police can apprehend the perpetrator soon, as I understand the suspect was hired by someone.

SHAH ALAM: McDonald's Malaysia filed a civil suit against Boycott Divestment Sanctions Malaysia (BDS Malaysia).
McDonald's through a statement confirmed that the action was carried out based on external legal advice, to protect the rights and interests of the fast food company.
"We have stated transparently and consistently that McDonald's Malaysia does not support or condone the current conflict in the Middle East and like all Malaysians, we sympathize with the innocent victims in Gaza.
"We have donated a total of RM1 million to the Palestine Humanitarian Fund launched by the government and will continue to pray for the end of the conflict and continued peace in Gaza," he said in a statement on Saturday.
The statement said the company reiterated its position that McDonald's Malaysia does not channel any sales, profits, royalties or franchise fees from restaurant operations to support any political cause or conflict in any part of the world.
"Although we understand and respect that boycotting is an individual decision, we believe that it should be based on truth," he said.
Meanwhile, BDS Malaysia in a statement confirmed that it had received a writ of summons from McDonald's recently claiming that it defamed the company.
"BDS Malaysia is a non-governmental organization (NGO) registered in this country that calls on the public, organizations and the Malaysian government to boycott Israel and organizations involved in Israeli atrocities against the Palestinian people," he said.
BDS Malaysia said it has appointed a legal firm, Raja Riza and Associates, and after consulting with its lawyers, the coalition will issue a more detailed statement

"Mengenai Pilihan Raya PBT, jawapan saya konsisten.

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan (Warisan) today strenuously denied allegations that it received funds from or has any ties with the biggest drug trafficking syndicate in Sabah.
Warisan secretary-general Datuk Loretto Padua said the party considers allegations hurled against it as extreme political slander to damage the reputation of the party and its leaders.
He said if the allegations persist, the party would not hesitate to take legal action against those who connect Warisan to any illegal activities or syndicates.
"Warisan regrets that there is still a small group of irresponsible parties trying to link the case with Warisan, as has been disseminated through WhatsApp," he said in a statement today.
Loretto said Warisan welcomed the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM)'s success with the Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCOM) and said that those suspected of being involved must be investigated and charged.
Yesterday, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay was reported to have said that a drug syndicate leader, with the title 'Datuk', was among 10 men held in Sabah on suspicion of being involved in the biggest drug trafficking syndicate in the state.
He said all the suspects, aged between 36 and 48, were arrested in a special operation at 2.30 am on Monday (Dec 25).
Following the announcement, a message went viral on WhatsApp claiming that an individual, with the title Datuk, in the syndicate had ties with Warisan leaders and was even involved in giving funds to the party.

Rasmus Hojlund ends goal drought as Man Utd come back to beat Villa
File pic of Old Trafford by Stadium Astro
LONDON: Rasmus Hojlund broke his Premier League duck as Manchester United celebrated Sir Jim Ratcliffe's investment in the club by battling back from two goals down to beat Aston Villa 3-2.
Villa were on course to move level on points with Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table following first-half goals from John McGinn and Leander Dendoncker at Old Trafford.
But the hosts levelled thanks to Alejandro Garnacho's double before 20-year-old Hojlund, who cost an initial GBP64million (US$81 million) from Atalanta in the summer, stole the headlines with an 82nd-minute winner on his 15th top-flight appearance, said PA Media.
The rousing comeback victory came two days after Ratcliffe agreed to buy a 25 per cent stake in United and ended a four-match winless run without scoring to ease mounting pressure on manager Erik ten Hag.
Ten Hag's side rise to sixth, while Villa remain third after blowing a major opportunity.
Earlier on Boxing Day, Liverpool climbed to the summit after Darwin Nunez ended his goal drought in a 2-0 success at second-bottom Burnley.
Nunez fired Jurgen Klopp's men into a sixth-minute lead at Turf Moor with his first strike in 13 matches in all competitions before substitute Diogo Jota sealed victory late on with his 50th goal for the club.
Mohamed Salah hit the crossbar and Harvey Elliott saw his second-half strike ruled out for offside with the score still 1-0, while Jacob Bruun Larsen almost snatched an equaliser for the Clarets.
Victory for the Reds lifted them two points above Arsenal, who host West Ham on Thursday, while lowly Burnley are five points from safety following a 14th defeat of the season.
Chris Wood retuned to haunt Newcastle with a stunning hat-trick as Nottingham Forest handed new boss Nuno Espirito Santo the first Premier League victory of his reign.
Wood, who joined Forest from the Magpies in January, produced two fine second-half finishes to secure a 3-1 comeback success at St James' Park.
Newcastle went ahead through Alexander Isak's 23rd-minute penalty but slipped to a sixth defeat in seven games in all competitions after Wood tapped home Anthony Elanga's cross just before the break and went on to complete his treble in style.
Forest remain two points above the relegation zone after 18th-placed Luton pulled off a 3-2 success at bottom club Sheffield United thanks to two late own goals.
Blades pair Jack Robinson and Anis Ben Slimane each turned the ball into their own goal during the final 14 minutes of a chaotic clash at Bramall Lane.
Chris Wilder's hosts had looked set for a vital three points after second-half strikes from Oli McBurnie and Anel Ahmedhodzic overturned Alfie Doughty's 17th-minute opener.
In-form Bournemouth continued their remarkable resurgence by moving into the top half of the table thanks to a thumping 3-0 victory over Fulham.
Justin Kluivert put the Cherries ahead just before half-time at Vitality Stadium before Dominic Solanke's eighth goal in seven games - a penalty after Joao Palhinha brought down Antoine Semenyo - doubled the lead.
Substitute Luis Sinisterra sealed an emphatic success late on as Andoni Iraola's hosts made it 19 points from the last 21 available.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malayan Flour Mills Bhd and its joint venture company, Dindings Poultry Development Centre Sdn Bhd, are in consultation with their external legal counsel to challenge the Malaysia Competition Commission's (MyCC) decision to impose a penalty of RM70.02 million for a price-fixing infringement.
In a Bursa Malaysia filing today, the companies said that the MyCC's finding of infringement was without merit.
"Malayan Flour and Dindings Poultry will take the necessary and appropriate action to appeal the decision and apply for a stay of the decision in the interim," it said.
On Dec 22 last week, MyCC said it had imposed a penalty of nearly RM415.5 million against five poultry feed manufacturers for infringing Section 4 of the Competition Act 2010 (Act 712) by forming a price-fixing cartel for poultry feed.
"The companies were Leong Hup Feedmill (M) Sdn Bhd, FFM Bhd, Gold Coin Feedmills (M) Sdn Bhd, Dindings Poultry Development Centre Sdn Bhd and PK Agro-Industrial Products (M) Sdn Bhd," it said.
The commission said its investigation uncovered evidence of identical increments in poultry feed prices among the parties from January 2020 to June 2022, in addition to the finding that the five enterprises had employed a calculated strategy to create the illusion of rising poultry feed costs due to hikes in raw material costs.

Corruption: Individuals with the rank of 'Tun' also need to be investigated, remanded - Dr Mahathir
Dr Mahathir Mohamad agreed that those who hold the rank of 'Tun' should also be investigated if they cannot explain in detail how they acquired their wealth.
KUALA LUMPUR: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad agreed that those who hold the rank of 'Tun' should also be investigated if they cannot explain in detail how they acquired their wealth.
In fact, the two-time former Prime Minister also insisted that if he failed to make an explanation, the individual's assets would also have to be confiscated.
However, said Dr Mahathir, it is not a requirement to obtain documentary evidence regarding their misconduct and mere suspicion is not enough.
𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐑𝐔𝐋𝐄 𝐎𝐅 𝐋𝐀𝐖
1. I agree completely that Tuns should be investigated. If they cannot explain where or how they got the money, their property should be seized.
2. It is not necessary to obtain documentary evidence of their misdeeds. Suspicions alone should be enough.
3. Tuns should not only be investigated. They should also be remanded until they reveal the source of their money. If they don’t it must be because they are hiding.
4. Corruption must be eradicated at all cost. If the AG is of the opinion that the accusations are due to politics, it is the right of the AG not to continue prosecution. Passports should be returned. This is the right of the AG. The courts must not question the decision of the AG.
5. Malaysia truly follows the rule of law. Even a first offender must accept the full force of the rule of law.
6. If whipping is mandatory then the offender must be whipped.
7. In Malaysia the law is supreme. We must all abide by it.
