PRN: BN candidate Jeram Padang has a broken leg, the assistant is seriously injured in an accident

TAMPIN: The accident involving Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Jeram Padang State Legislative Assembly, Datuk Mohd Zaidy Abdul Kadir, on Jalan Pasir Besar here, early this morning, did not involve any other vehicle.
Tampin District Police Chief, Supt Anuwal Ab Wahab said, the four-wheel drive Ford Ranger was driven by Mohd Zaidy who was with his assistant at the time.
He said, as a result of the accident, Mohd Zaidy, also known as Tok D, broke his left leg while his assistant was seriously injured and was rushed to Jempol Hospital.
"At approximately 3 am, there was a road accident involving a Ford Ranger driven by the Jeram Padang state assembly candidate with his assistant.
"The result of the investigation found that the accident occurred when Mohd Zaidy and his assistant were on their way to Palong from Bahau via Jalan Pasir Besar," he said in a statement here today.
He called on the public or witnesses to the incident to come forward to help the investigation.
"Investigation papers have been opened under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987 and the cause of the accident is still under investigation.
"People who have information about the road accident involved can contact the IPD Tampin Traffic Police Station at 06-4412502 and the IPD Tampin Operations Room at 06-4431999 to assist with the investigation," he said.
Earlier, campaign assistant for the BN Jeram Padang state assembly candidate, Mohd Nazir Md Yunus, said the incident happened when Mohd Zaidy was on his way back to his homestay after finishing a meeting.
"The accident this morning happened when the new candidate had finished holding a meeting with the machinery and was on his way back to the homestay at Felda Palong 2.
"He is now in the normal ward of Jempol Hospital and his condition is stable," he said when contacted today.
It is understood that for now, the hospital only allows family members to visit him as he needs adequate rest and treatment.
