JAKARTA: A group of seven Malaysian tourists were reported safe after the ship they were on sank in Barat Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara on Saturday.
The incident occurred at 11.45 am when Indonesia was in the middle of launching a Phinisi type ship in the waters of Pink Beach, Komodo Island, Labuan Bajo.
The ship in question reportedly sailed from Manta Point to Pink Beach before experiencing engine problems and sinking in a whirlpool while being towed by another ship.
The Malaysian Embassy in Jakarta confirmed that all the victims involved are safe and no casualties have been reported.
"All the victims have been taken to hospital," the embassy said in a statement.
