PRN: 572 valid candidates contested, one nomination paper was rejected

PUTRAJAYA: The Election Commission (EC) confirmed that a candidate nomination paper was rejected in the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) in Kota Lama, Kelantan involving Independent candidates on the nomination day for the State Election (PRN) in six states and the Kuala By-election (PRK). Terengganu.

Its chairman, Datuk Abdul Ghani Salleh said, a total of 572 nomination papers were received involving a total of 245 state assembly seats and one parliamentary seat in Kuala Terengganu.

He said, it witnessed the highest five-cornered competition, which is one seat in Lunas state assembly, Kedah and one-on-one for 181 seats, followed by three-cornered (51 seats) and four-cornered 13 seats.

He said that candidates from the Perikatan Nasional (PN) party had the most candidates, 168, followed by Pakatan Harapan (PH) with 138, Barisan Nasional (BN) with 108 and Pas with 78.

"Parti Muda (19 candidates), PRM (13 people), PSM (four people), PFP (two people), Parti Utama Rakyat (one) and Bebas (41 people).

"A total of 501 male candidates while 71 female candidates with the oldest candidate being 80 years old in Pantai Jerejak state assembly and the youngest candidate 23 years old in Bukit Antarabangsa," he said in a press conference here today.
