PENDANG: Two nurses of Hospital Sik sustained serious injuries when their four-wheel-drive skidded and overturned at KM70.4 of the North South Expressway here.
Four other medical personnel suffered light injuries in the 7.50am accident on Sunday.
The vehicle was heading north to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital when a tyre burst, causing the vehicle to go out of control.
It is understood that the nurses were heading to the hospital for a training session.
Guar Chempedak Fire and Rescue Station Operation Commander Assistant Fire Superintendent Safuwan Md Saad said a distress call was received at 7.53am.
Nine officers from the station rushed to the scene.
“Three of the victims were rushed to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital by passers-by.
"Two occupants of the vehicles sustained serious injuries while four others suffered light injuries.
“The rest of the victims were sent to the hospital by ambulances,” he said.
