Kitty quarrel: Man fined RM1k for smashing sister's car over pet kitten

KUALA LUMPUR: A man who lost his cool and smashed the front light of his sister’s car because she moved his pet kitten to outside their house was fined RM1,000, in default two months’ jail, by the Magistrate’s Court here today for the mischief.
Magistrate Mahyudin Mohmad Som meted out the punishment on Liew Toh Choon, 30, after he pleaded guilty to the charge.
Toh Choon, who is unemployed, was charged with damaging the car belonging to Liew Mei Yei, 36, at a house in Jalan 24/146, Bandar Tasik Selatan, Sungai Besi, Cheras here, at 9 pm last April 14.
The charge, under Section 427 of the Penal Code, carries an imprisonment for up to five years, or fine , or both, upon conviction.
Earlier, Deputy Public Prosecutor Ezrene Zakariah, who prosecuted, asked the court to impose a sentence to serve as a lesson for the accused, who was unrepresented.
In the same court, a trader was fined RM1,500 or three months’ jail after pleading guilty to committing mischief by smashing the Touch n Go Toll Fare Indicator (TFI) board .
Magistrate Mahyudin fined Leong Chee Peng, 47, who pleaded guilty to committing the mischief at the Duta Toll Plaza, Sentul here, at 6.30 am last April 9. --Bernama
