A man stood on the pitch pointing at his chest having just scored the deciding goal in the Champions League quarter-final. Of course it was Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ronaldo scored a hat-trick to put Real Madrid into the Champions League semi-final, dumping his old boss Carlo Ancelotti out.
It was cruel on Bayern Munich who had Arturo Vidal harshly sent-off and who could complain that Ronaldo's second and third goals were offside.

It was incredible from Ronaldo all the same – Real Madrid had scored six goals across the tie and he had netted five of them.
'Bayern were excellent but we were better,' said Ronaldo. Asked if this was Madird on their way to a 12th European Cup he added: 'We still have some way to go, but I hope so.'
The Portuguese had headed in a Casemiro's cross in the second half of normal time to cancel out Robert Lewandowski's penalty but a Sergio Ramos own goal meant the game went into an additional 30 minutes.
Bayern had to play that extra half-hour with 10 men after Vidal was sent off for a second bookable offence – he got the ball as he slid in on Marco Asensio but referee Viktor Kassai decided to pull out the red card.

The Germans were the better team at the start of the first period of extra-time but Ronaldo lashed in Ramos' cross with the decisive goal.
No two players defended Ancelotti when he was sacked as Real Madrid coach more than Ronaldo and Ramos – the defender even planted a kiss on his old coach before the game started – but they had combined to knock the Italian out.
The goal looked offside and Real Madrid's third goal was also dubious – Marcelo racing away and Ronaldo finishing past Neuer again looking the wrong side of the last defender.

Benzema was another to get a headed opportunity as Real went on the attack to score but his effort skewed wide of the target

After the break the game re-started in the same fashion with Real on the up, Isco shot narrowly wide as the assault continued

Bayern had looked their combined age at times in the game with the veteran Xabi Alonso particularly sloppy in possession. But 33-year-old Arjen Robben was brilliant throughout and did not deserve to be on the losing side.
Marco Asensio got the fourth to make it 6-3 on aggregate. Bayern will point to refereeing decisions. Real Madrid will point to Ronaldo – he now has 103 goals European football. Again he had started the game poorly but moved up the gears to decide the result.
Things had looked so much better for Bayern when they took the lead on 53 mintues. Keylor Navas did his best to put Lewandowski off his penalty but the Polish forward never flinched dropping his shoulder to prompt the keeper's dive and send the ball the other way.
Minutes later Casemiro tripped Robben in the box, with the Dutchman making sure the referee knew, to give Bayern a penalty
Casemiro protested his innocence but replays showed there was clear contact between the Brazilian and Robben
The striker put Bayern ahead on the night from the penalty spot but they would need another goal to win the tie

The home team didn't know whether to stick or twist at that point – one more goal and they were out. Zinedine Zidane responded by taking off Karim Benzema and putting on Asensio. He went wide left and Ronaldo, who had missed several first half chances, moved to centre-forward.
Almost immediately it worked when he headed in Casemiro's cross. Madrid thought they were through but Ramos put past his own keeper under pressure from Lewandowski and the game went into extra time.
Bayern had to play the extra half-hour without the energy of Vidal who was so incensed with the decision he refused to walk and was eventually pushed off the pitch by Ramos.

The last time a Champions League game went to extra-time at the Bernabeu it was Bayern who knocked Real Madrid out on penalties but this time things were to go the home side's way.
These two old titans of European football have clashed more times in this competition more than any other pairing.
At the end of the game the Madrid fans chanted the name of Ronaldo. The unstoppable scoring machine just goes on and on – another hat-trick and another semi-final.
