"Vampire" transvestites looking for "prey"
IPOH: At a glance, one may think this group of hot looking "ladies" are models.
However, these "ladies" are a group of Thai transvestites working as prostitutes around the town centre and were referred to as "vampires" since they often act violently by scratching and biting authorities who try to detain them.
Harian Metro today reported, a group of transvestites are dominating certain areas at night, soliciting along Jalan Kampar and Jalan CM Yusuf.
Deputy Assistant Director of Perak Immigration Irwan Zahid said the transvestites' activities were under the authorities' surveillance with operations and arrests being made from time to time.
According to Irwan, during a few operations, the transvestites were aggressive when they bit and scratched the hands of enforcement officers who tried to arrest them.
"They even wrestled among themselves just to escape from the authorities. However, that did not stop us from continuing our operations to ensure the town is free from vice activities," he said.
Meanwhile, checks by Harian Metro at Jalan Yang Kalsom and Jalan CM Yusuf found that the group of transvestites had chosen the entrance to shoplot buildings as their locations to wait for customers from 9pm to 3am on a daily basis.
Approximately 20 prostitutes were seen lingering in a stretch of 100 meters of the road and different approach were used by them to lure their customers, including exposing themselves to show that they have undergone gender transformation surgery.
One of the prostitutes introduced as Janya, 25, claimed "she" was being paid as low as RM50 for every service offered.
Janya said, "she" and some friends are currently renting the first floor and second floor of a shoplot on Jalan Yang Kalsom ever since they arrived at the town centre a couple months ago.
"We are all "cut" (undergone surgery). It's all nice (down there) like a woman," Janya said.
Upon checks made by Harian Metro, they also found that the transvestites were picky and careful of the customers they choose.
They (the prostitutes) do not entertain drunk men or those who drive vehicles belonging to the authorities.
