ANYONE INVOLVED IN GANGSTERISM WILL BE CHARGED, POLITICIAN OR OTHERWISE!

Anyone involved in gangsterism, regardless of their background will be charged says Inspector General of Police, Khalid Abu Bakar.

"Now that the home ministry has disclosed the details of the 49 gangs, namely gang 04 and gang 08,  the force will be full on into the case.

"In the case of high profiled individuals such as politicians being involved, we would like to make it clear that anyone classified as a gangster will be charged under the 'Societies act," he said at the IPK Selangor open house.

Khalid said most identified individuals have past criminal record and will be brought to court upon arrest.

"We are already on this case and the results are showing. We hope to keep it going,to make this nation a safer place for the people." Deputy Selangor police Chief, Datuk A.Thaiveegan said it's time for these gang members to repent.

"Its time for them to change their lifestyle and become better people. Why should they ne subjected to such a lifestyle when there are so many opportunities to live a good life in Malaysia,?" he said.

Thaiveegan said these people are still young and they need to realise that they are making their own lives miserable by being involved in such activities.

On another note, Thaiveegan said the recent case of an inspector having lost his gun in an accident is currently being investigated.

"We have proper security measures for the officers to keep their firearms, however in accidents as such we can't help it.

"The officer who met with the accident is badly injured and is currently unable to talk. So we are waiting for him to get better before proceeding with the investigation," he said.
