KUALA LUMPUR: Serdang district Police's Motorcycle Patrolling Unit (URB) caught two car thieves after a 25km chase from Bandar Kinrara, Puchong to the Smart Tunnel here in Jalan Tun Razak on Sunday.
The duo in a stolen Proton Preve had just stolen a Perodua Myvi in the 1pm incident, noticed the URB presence before speeding towards the Bukit Jalil Highway and entered the North South Expressway, heading towards the city centre.
Serdang district police deputy chief Superintendent Lam Chien Fei said on the way out of Puchong alone they had hit three cars.
"We later requested help from city police headquarters MPV patrol unit. While the suspects were further tailed into the Smart Tunnel they rammed into the road divider just coming out of the tunnel and were apprehended," Lam said.
A parang, car break-in tools and belongings of the Perodua Myvi owner were found in the Proton Preve that was reported lost in Gombak on Aug 21.
"Further checks revealed that the duo has records involving robbery and drugs case, and are also wanted for auto thefts committed in Malacca and the Klang Valley," said Lam
Lam added that at least 15 cars were hit by the suspects in their 20's during their hour-long attempt to outrun the police
