5 Indian Gangsters from 04 Gang Wanted for Several Murders Shot Dead

IGP Tan Sri Khalid Bakar will hold a press conference on the shootout between police and five members of the notorious 04 gang here early today at the state police contingent headquarters at 3.30pm.


The heavily armed gang members, believed responsible for a spate of shootings, including several fatal cases involving members of rival gangs in Penang, opened fire when they realised police had surrounded their rented unit at the Century Bay service apartments in the 4.45am incident.



At press time, police forensic team is gathering evidence and the bodies of the suspects, aged between 20 and 30, would be sent to Penang mortuary for post mortem soon.
Five men in their 20s and 30s were shot dead during a police raid at an apartment in Sungai Nibong here at dawn today.
All five were ethnic Indians.
In the incident which happened at about 5am, police shot dead the five in the unit at the 11th floor of the Century Bay apartment, located near the Pesta Site.
Police claim that the five were members of a notorious secret society, alleging that they were criminal suspects wanted for several murders and firearm offences.

The five shot dead are: J Gobinath-31, R. Ramesh -27, A. Vinut-23, M. Suresh 25, M. Gobinath -21. 

The five were said to be involved in several fatal shootings that took place across the country this year.


The five, believed to be in their 20s, were said to have been involved in the recent spate of shooting cases in the state this year.
It is learnt that police from Bukit Aman D9 and JSJ Khas D9 IPK Penang had been monitoring their activities before moving in on a unit on the 11th floor of the apartment early Monday.


It is learnt that police have seized three pistols from the scene. Two Silver Pistols - one a revolver and a black walter ppk
Police officers knocked on the door of the apartment but there was no response. They had to break the door and enter however they had to retaliate when the suspects opened fire from the inside of the apartment.
Police are now conducting ground inspections and collecting more evidence at the scene. They are expected to provide more details on the shootings at a press conference later in the afternoon.
