STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE FOLLOWED IN SHOOTING OF 5 MEMBERS OF 04 GANG!

Penang police maintained that they had adopted the standard operating procedure in the raid on an apartment that killed five gang members on  Monday, contrary to the claims by the families of the dead men.

Penang police chief Datuk Abdul Rahim Hanafi said police had adhered strictly to the SOP.
Gang Members opened fire on Police first

"It is not true that the police fired more than 30 shots at the suspects without identifying themselves. We identified ourselves before entering the apartment and were shot at.

"We kept to the SOP and only fired a number of shots which hit them, and not as alleged by them (the family members)," he told reporters.

Reports quoting the families of the five men said police shot repeatedly at the suspects without adhering to the SOP.

Police raided the apartment in Sungai Nibong here at about 5am and shot dead the men believed to be hired killers wanted for murders and attempted murders in Penang, Kedah and Negri Sembilan.
Abdul Rahim also dismissed rumours that remnants of the gang had tried to attack the police to avenge the deaths of their comrades.

"We do not have any information on that. I believe they are just rumours. However, police will take precautionary measures," he said.

He also said that police had received four reports from the families of the dead men seeking to have an inquest held into their deaths.

"We will look into the police reports. The police cannot make a decision on the holding of an inquest. They (the families) can apply for one," he said. - Bernama

"Everyone jumped up & down when the murders and crime rate went up but now when police have swung into action, many parties are doubting the police actions. The police need your full support and cooperation to clean up this beautiful country. I believe the majority supports Ops Cantas, drastic as it may seem, its providing the required results." , -BESTFBKL

Family of 04 Gang wants to suit Police

You can run, but you cannot hide!

This appears to be the message from the Penang police as the heat is on for a group armed hardcore thugs linked to 11 shooting cases since early this year.
Following the elimination of five suspected hired killers at an apartment in Sungai Nibong here early yesterday, the police are scouring the state for the group whose days are numbered.
The police know their identities and are also in possession of related information to facilitate investigations.
State police chief Datuk Abdul Rahim Hanafi said the long arm of the law would bring the culprits to book.

"We have solved nine cases (of shooting) after five gangsters were shot dead yesterday. There are 11 more (shooting) cases under police investigation," he told reporters after a meeting with Ops Selamat 3/2013 personnel here today.
He was commenting on the success of the police in eliminating a gang of thugs in which five men were gunned down early yesterday morning. --BERNAMA
