MACC Seized RM116 Million In Assets Last Year

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission said it froze more than RM116 million in assets last year under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.
In a special press conference here today, MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said his side also seized various assets worth more than RM97 million through various operations for the same period.
He said the statistics also recorded 1,163 cases involving compound value amounting to RM60.82 million.
“MACC also confiscated assets worth more than RM12 million and recorded a compound value of RM60,824,” he said.
He said this was carried out under various legal methods including the Criminal Procedure Code, the Money Laundering Act 2001 and the MACC Act 2009.
Azam said throughout 2024, MACC arrested 1,334 individuals and 453 of those individuals have been accused in court.
