THE USJ community bade farewell to the popular officer-in-charge of the USJ8 police station, Asst Supt Jasni Zolpa.

Noted for his exceptional crime-busting ability, ASP Jasni, who had served in the area for seven years, has been transferred to Bukit Aman.

Such was his prowess that many residents associations (RA) in the area had appealed for him to stay back.

Among them was USJ20/1-3 RA chairman Hoh Choo Kim, who said ASP Jasni had endeared himself to the community with his selfless dedication, commitment and passion in keeping the peace.

“Every time we invited him to our RA’s events, he would never say no. His talks were very informative and always inspiring. We will miss him greatly here,” said Hoh, who hosted a farewell lunch for the police officer with several of the USJ20/1-3 RA committee members.

The high-tea event organised at a hotel in Subang Jaya saw all 22 tables filled up.

Among those present were former Subang Jaya assemblyman Hannah Yeoh, who is now the Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister, and Subang MP Wong Chen who thanked ASP Jasni for his grand efforts.

Under ASP Jasni’s watch, the crime rate in USJ had progressively reduced.

One of his last successes in the area was solving the gruesome murder of a husband and wife at their condominium unit in USJ. They were stabbed to death and their bodies stuffed into two suitcases that were dumped into ditches.

The suspects, who are foreigners, were believed to be tenants at the couple’s condominium unit.

ASP Jasni said he would always cherish his time serving as OCS of the USJ8 police station.

“Words cannot express how grateful I am for all the well-wishes sent my way.

“I have also been so lucky to have residents who have been so cooperative with the police,” he added.

He recalled a surprise visit by Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador to the USJ8 police station.

“I was back home resting after a long day and was informed that the IGP had dropped by. I immediately put my uniform back on and rushed over.

“When I explained my absence to Tan Sri, he smiled and just told me to always do my best,” added ASP Jasni.
