Lawyer duo claims trial for allegedly asking rape victim to withdraw report against suspects

SEREMBAN: Two lawyers claimed trial at the Sessions Court here to a charge of attempting to impede justice by allegedly asking a 17-year-old rape victim to withdraw a report against two suspects.

A. Partheeban, 51, and Noliana Othman, 43, pleaded not guilty to the charge before judge Madihah Harulllah. They had allegedly committed the offence at the grounds of the Seremban 2 Court Complex here at 9.30am on April 2 this year.


They had allegedly prodded the victim to withdraw a report she had lodged against Muhammad Fazli Alisman and Ahmad Farouk Abdul Malek.

The lawyers were charged under section 5 (b) of the Abduction and Criminal Intimidation of Witnesses Act 1947.


Offenders can be jailed up to 10 years and fined upon conviction.

Madihah then fixed Dec 20 for remention.

Noliana was represented by S. Karthigesan, while Philip Yeoh appeared for Partheeban.
