PETALING JAYA: Tan Sri Ramon Navaratnam has denied writing an open letter to voters calling on them to vote Pakatan Harapan "to return the power back to the people".

"The letter was well written but I didn't write it," said the Asli Center of Public Policy Studies chairman.

Ramon said the letter was published by an online portal, which had apologised for the misattribution.

He was referring to a letter titled "Return the power to the people!" which urges the people to vote the Opposition to show that it is the rakyat which holds true power.

Ramon said he would not tell anyone who to vote for as he preferred to be neutral.

"But I would tell them to vote wisely," he said.

Ramon advised the public to choose men and women of integrity, with competence and a track record of good service to the people.

"They must be multi-racial and Malaysian in their outlook.

"If they have a record of making racist remarks or bigotry, they shouldn't be chosen," he said.

However, he stressed that more importantly, the people must go out to make a choice on the polling day, May 9.

"You must exercise your duty as good Malaysians," he said.

Ramon also urged the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to curtail money politics and abuse in the election system.
