KUALA LUMPUR: A 25-year-old man was arrested for molesting a young girl at an apartment in Taman Cheras Utama.
City CID chief Senior Asst Comm Rusdi Md Isa confirmed the arrest and said the suspect has been remanded for four days to help with investigations.
“We are investigating the case as physical sexual assault on a child and sale and distribution of obscene material,” he said when contacted yesterday.
He added that the victim’s father had lodged a police report on the matter.
Facebook user Noh Koris uploaded two videos claiming that the suspect was confronted by residents for allegedly molesting and attempting to kidnap the victim, who is his neighbour’s daughter.
In one of his posts, he said the incident occurred around 1.45pm when the girl was returning from school.
The video shows the suspect sitting on the ground with his fallen motorcycle as a man with a stick confronts him.
The suspect claims in the video that he had just started his motor- cycle engine to ride away when he was pushed and fell down.
The resident then was heard telling the suspect that the girl would come and clear the air.
