KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal has been released on a RM100,000 Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) bail.
The Parti Warisan Sabah president was released by Magistrate Cindy Mc Juce Balitus at 9.45am on Friday (Oct 27).
As he was escorted from the court by police and MACC officers, Shafie, who is the Semporna MP, nodded when asked whether he intended to attend Parliament later.
However, when asked again whether he would be able to make it for the tabling of Budget 2018 on Friday afternoon, he replied: "I have to go for a medical check up first."
Shafie, dressed in a white shirt and black trousers, acknowledged them by waving a black cap with the word "Change" emblazoned on it.
The former Rural and Regional Development Minister was arrested on Oct 19 over the alleged skimming of federal project allocations in Sabah through the Rural and Regional Development Ministry.
The MACC is expected to make more arrests as it sifts through about 350 projects that were given to some 60 companies between the period 2009 and 2015.
The money was allegedly siphoned from RM7.5bil worth of project funds.
So far, some RM170mil in bank accounts and assets of some of the companies have been frozen.
