PETALING JAYA: A 45-year-old man was arrested by police after his wife lodged a report claiming that he had abused and raped their maid.
It is learnt that police have detained the man and the Indonesian maid, 33, who does not have valid travel documents.
The maid was detained after she was called in to give her statement.
It is believed that the wife found out about the alleged rape when she told her maid that she was planning to divorce her husband.
The wife also claimed that she had caught her husband hitting the maid.
Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohammad Azlin Sadari confirmed that police have received a report on the incident.
ACP Mohammad Azlin said that the suspect was arrested on Friday (Oct 20) when he went to the Subang Jaya district police headquarters to have his statement recorded. He was and remanded until Monday (Oct 30).
