Harry Kane Excited To Swap Jerseys With His Idol Cristiano Ronaldo, Frames It
Even football stars have their idols, and that was the very reason why Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane was feeling like a kid in a candy store after his team’s meet with Real Madrid on Tuesday at Santiago Bernabeu.
Although Tottenham drew 1-1 draw against the Spanish giants, the 24-year-old British footballer who secured Spurs a spot for the Champions League was thrilled to meet his idol, Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ironically, the two are top scorers in Europe this calendar year and both qualified for FIFA’s Ballon d’Or award, with Ronaldo already winning four times.
The Britishman was seen swapping jerseys with Ronaldo after the match and recounted to Daily Mail, “I asked for his shirt. He's a big role model of mine, watching him when I was growing up. It's a nice shirt to get and frame.”
However, the humble England Captain said he will not know what Ronaldo will do with his shirt which he gave in return.
“We just said: 'See you in a couple of weeks.'"
But it seems like Kane was not the only one that was awestruck as Ronaldo reportedly is a fan of the striker, admires him and would love to have him as a teammate.
Following the showdown Daily Star reported, according to Spanish transfer outlet Don Balon, Ronaldo was impressed with the 24-year-old.
While Kane surely left a good impression on his Portuguese role model, French football legend who is the La Liga champions' manager, Zinedine Zidane, had previously praised him as the “complete” centre-forward.
“He is a very important player, he is a key player for Tottenham - he is very good at everything. What he does is always towards the goal, he attacks space at speed. He is a complete player,” the Frenchman gloated of Kane.
Whether or not Zidane has set his eye on the striker, Real’s fans have expresed wanting to see more of Kane, but in their team, to replace lacklustre Karim Benzema.
But Kane has signed a contract to 2022 with Spurs, for less than 200 million, though he never ruled out his chances of playing in any team – and what more alongside his idol.
"It’s not something I definitely want to do, but you never rule anything out. I’m very happy here (at Tottenham), but we’ll see what happens,” he earlier said.
