Malaysian fans queue up two days for Jacky Cheung concert tickets
KUALA LUMPUR: More than 350 Cantopop music fans began ‘camping' in front of a shopping mall here from Thursday morning in hopes of snapping up tickets for Jacky Cheung's upcoming KL concert.
This is despite the fact that tickets for the show are only opening for sale on Saturday afternoon.
The official ticket launch begins at 12 noon to 6pm at the Quill City Mall.
Armed with snacks, canned drinks, portable fans and power banks, they are hoping to be among the lucky ones to secure tickets for Cheung's upcoming Classic Tour concert at Bukit Jalil in January next year.
He launched his brand new concert series “Jacky Cheung’s Classic Tour’ in October 2016, which spans over 60 cities.
Cheung, one of Hong Kong's “Four Heavenly Kings” – alongside Andy Lau Tak-wah, Aaron Kwok Fu-shing and Leon Lai, has a huge following in Malaysia.
Cheung, whose last show in Malaysia was six years ago, will perform on Jan 26 and 27, 2018 at the Axiata Arena Bukit Jalil.
Cantopop music fan Sunny Ooi, an online entrepreneur, holds the honour of being the first in line for the tickets.
She's certainly no stranger to queueing, having lined up for a week previously at the same location.
Back then, she was lining up for tickets to a concert by South Korean boyband Big Bang.
“If I can get a few good seats for the show, it is definitely worth it.
“It has been frustrating trying to get good seats online, which started earlier today.
"I fear that only a very small number of good seats are still available,” said Ooi.
She added that the fans are not allowed to leave their place except for short breaks, or they will lose their place in the queue.
Ooi is planning to buy the maximum six tickets allowed per person as she wants to bring her family including her parents.
There are also those hoping to make a few bucks as well.
If tickets sell out, prices for after-market tickets are predicted to go through the roof.
The concert tickets are officially priced at RM988, RM888, RM748, RM618, RM488, RM368 and RM258.
It had been speculated among fans that scalpers could potentially flog tickets for as high as RM2,000 each.
