KUALA LUMPUR: Newly-appointed KL police chief Datuk Mazlan Lazim today unveiled the '5B' concept, aimed at empowering his men to serve the people better.
The concept, which covers appearance (Berketerampilan), image (Berimej), integrity (Berintegriti), energetic (Bertenaga) and knowledgable (Berpengetahuan) will be put into practice in stages among all policemen in the city.
He said the main objective for introducing the '5B' concept was to improve the level of integrity among his men.
“One way to instill integrity is to give them mandate. No one should be involved in abuse of power and graft.
“If there is any wrongdoing... it is game over. I am not accusing anyone of being corrupt but if there is, it should stop,” he said at the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters here.
Mazlan said he will be visiting all district police stations beginning tomorrow to relay the message.
Meanwhile, Mazlan said City police will give more priority in the effort to eradicate drug trafficking activities.
“We will place one man at each People's Housing Project (PPR) here to monitor and report to us on drug activities in the areas. I think there are about 26 PPR here such as Beringin and San Peng flats.
“At the same time, I will look into drug usage at entertainment centres. We want to prevent this from happening.” he said.
