KOTA KINABALU: Two more people were arrested Thursday as part of investigations into allegations that millions of ringgit were siphoned from rural development projects.
They were a 40-year-old assistant secretary in the infrastructure division at the Rural and Regional Development Ministry and a 50-year-old contractor.
The assistant secretary was detained at 8.15pm after she gave her statement at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission office here. The contractor was detained half an hour later after he had also given his statement to the MACC.
The two arrests came after Parti Warisan Sabah vice-president Peter Anthony was detained by the graft busters at about 6.40pm.
It is learnt that Anthony, who is a founding member of Warisan led by former Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, wouldl be remanded with the others on Friday.
