KUALA LUMPUR: Muslim preacher Zamihan Mat Zin will be investigated under the Sedition Act, said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun (pic).
He said that as of Tuesday, one report had been lodged against the Pertubuhan Ahli Sunnah Wal Jamaah Malaysia (Aswaja) president.
On whether Zamihan would be called in to give his statement, Mohamad Fuzi said that all the necessary action would be taken.
"It is a normal process which I cannot elaborate on," he told reporters after attending a talk at the Police Training Centre (Pulapol) on Wednesday.
In the same video, Zamihan labelled Chinese people as being "unhygienic".
In a statement on Wednesday, Zamihan said he would take legal action against news portals if they do not retract and apologise for their articles over the video, claiming he never mentioned the name of the Johor Sultan and neither did he use any abusive or seditious words.
He said that he would give a number of news portals, as well as former minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim, seven days to retract their articles and to publicly apologise to him.
"If they fail to do so, I will take legal action against them for defaming me without prejudice," Zamihan said in a statement Wednesday.
The Home Ministry on Tuesday said that it would also be investigating Zamihan over the viral video.
