PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan says he will give his full cooperation to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) over allegations of misuse of power in allowing an extension of time (EOT) to a developer when he was Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister.
The Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department said he welcomed a report by DAP to the MACC on the issue, but called it “politically motivated”.
“It is clear this report is politically motivated but nonetheless, I will assure the public that I will give full cooperation to MACC,” he tweeted on Monday night.
Two DAP Youth leaders had filed the report, urging the MACC to investigate the approval of the one-year EOT for a condominium project in Nov 2015 by the minister.
Abdul Rahman had denied any misuse of power following a High Court decision last week which allowed a judicial review by the affected condominium buyers who were not able to claim compensation as a result of the EOT.
Abdul Rahman, who currently heads the Economic Planning Unit, also said he would look into taking action against DAP leaders for organising a press conference after making the report, which is in breach of Section 29(4) of the MACC Act.
The provision states that any complaint to the MACC should remain confidential until an accused is charged in court, unless its disclosure has been approved in advance by a prosecutor or an MACC official with the ranking of commissioner or higher.Read more at http://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2017/03/07/rahman-dahlan-cooperate-macc-dap-report-on-eots/#AJSWlGISQ22V2COI.99
