Johor exco man released on bail
JOHOR BARU: Johor executive councillor Datuk Abdul Latif Bandi, who has been in the spotlight over the massive land and housing scandal in the state, has been released on a RM200,000 bail.
Abdul Latif, who was the state Housing and Local Government Committee chairman, arrived at the court building here at 9.10am on Thursday.
He was seen hugging and kissing a family member as he got out of his car, clad in orange Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) lock-up attire.
In only took him 15 minutes to complete the procedure for his release and left the premises by 9.30am in an MACC vehicle.
Senior Registrar Saba'aton Daud allowed the released.
Abdul Latif was detained by the MACC on March 9 to assist in investigations into the scandal.
Shortly after his arrest, MACC officers seized an array of items at his home in Johor, including 150 luxury handbags, RM41,000 cash and a luxury vehicle.
On Feb 24, Abdul Latif’s eldest son Ahmad Fauzan and his special officer Muhammad Idzuan Jamalludin, were detained by the MACC in a swoop in relation to the case.
A lawyer, two developers, a contractor as well as another suspect were also arrested in a series of raids.
All suspects, aged between 25 and 50, were released on bail after their remand expired.
