JOHOR BARU: Traders and visitors at the Bandar Baru Uda Ramadan Baazar here received a royal surprise when the Sultan of Johor Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar dropped by to get some local delights as well as to meet his subjects.
Sultan Ibrahim, accompanied by his third son Tunku Temenggong Tunku Idris Iskandar Sultan Ibrahim, arrived at the bazaar located in Jalan Padi Mahsuri 12 at 5.50pm.
The ruler spent about half an hour at the bazaar, visiting 10 stalls and buying a myriad of local dishes for the breaking of fast. The stalls were selling "sup gear box", "popiah", "nasi briyani", satay and fruit juices, among others.
Also present was Johor Baru Mayor A. Rahim Nin.
"I like to go to Ramadhan bazaars as there are a lot of delectable dishes available," Sultan Ibrahim said.
Beaming with delight, Sultan Ibrahim said he was spoilt for choice when it came to choosing which food to buy as everything seemed inviting.
Visitors at the bazaar also did not miss the opportunity to shake hands with the Sultan, and requests for selfies with the ruler were graciously obliged.
Sultan Ibrahim left the bazaar at 6.30pm with a trolley full of dishes packed in air tight containers, which he planned to share with the palace staff.
