We went to review the second  Ramadhan Buka Buffet at Mandarin Oriental Hotel Kuala Lumpur held at the Diamond Ballroom. Their main Ramadhan Buffet spread is at the Mosaic Restaurant. The price at the Mosaic is RM188.00 but on July 5 and 6 it will be at RM138.00

The price at the Diamond Ballroom is at RM158 and the spread here is mostly Asian and Malay Cuisine. The Ramadhan Buka Puasa fare at the Diamond Ballroom will be until July 3, 2016. You wont find the Western Grill and Japanese sections here as they are only available at the Mosaic. They have mostly some good tasting Malay dishes.

There is a real festive feel to the Ramadhan Buka Puasa Buffet at the Diamond Ballroom with Ramadhan and Hari Raya songs played throughout the night. At the Diamond Ballroom it is all about QUALITY & not about quantity. It is about breaking your fast with authentic malay dishes in a festive five star ambiance.

The setting is spacious and dining in the Diamond Ballroom gives you a kampung feel in a five star setting.

We headed to check out the  Roast Lamb first as we always do. We were pleasantly shocked to note how tender the lamb was and how it melted in our mouths. Certainly one of the top 3 lambs we have tasted at the Buka Puasa Buffet's

The Satay was up to our expectation, the beef and chicken is one of the best in town with right marination.

The Lemang and fabulous Rendang was very tasty. The rendang just melted in your mouth.

We then headed for the seafood section to taste some very fresh from the sea fare. You could almost taste the sea with the scallops and mussels.

For those who like to start their meal with some appetisers you can find some tasty Malay traditional appetisers here.

Aneka Keropok and Jeruk Pak Ali

Your Do it Yourself Salad Section.

At the bubur station you have a choice of Szechuan Soup, Sup Kambing Mamak and Bubur Lambuk.  All The Soups were pretty good with just the right flavor.

The best dished of the night were the usual Malay and Asian inspired dishes like Sambal Tumis Udang Harimau, Chicken Curry, Lamb curry, Fish Curry, Ikan Masin Manis, Sayur Lemak and Brocoli and mixed Vegetables and Mee Hoon.

All the dishes is a must try!

There were a couple of Live Cooking Stations.

Although I am not a fan of burgers the mini burgers and roti john were really tasty

The murtabak and roti station is a must visit, as they were really tasty and good

The Korean Kimbap Station.

The Goreng Goreng Station was very popular with Cempedak , Goreng Pisang and Ubi Keledek

Goreng Pisang & Fabulous Samosa's

They Served hot and cold drinks. The Coffee and tea was very good and cold drinks full of flavour an not watered down

The best section of the whole buffet was the desserts section they had traditional malay desserts, western deserts and ice cream. Everything here was fabulous.

Traditional Layered Cake or Kek Lapis.

Biscuits and Murukku

Verdict: As mentioned the Ramadhan Buka Puasa Buffet at the Diamond Ballroom is all about Quality not Quantity. The Reviewers had a very tasty experience. We could not find a single dish below par although the bubur pulut hitam was said to be a healthier not to sweet version of what i would like. A great place to buka puasa with your family or corporate clients if dining in comfort is your priority and you looking to break fast with tasty authentic malay dishes .

The Durian Section at the Lounge On The Park is only for diners who buka puasa at the Mosaic and not for those who dine at the Diamond Ballroom, however Mr. Arul The Deputy F&B Director allowed us to get into there and taste the best tasting Durians you can have in Kuala Lumpur

Believer it or not the Best Tasting Durians in Kuala Lumpur is at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Kuala Lumpur.
