Pay tithe to LZS, not directly to asnaf - Selangor Sultan
PETALING JAYA: Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah of Selangor today called on all Muslims in the state to pay tithe only to the Selangor Tithe Board (LZS), which is the only agency entrusted to collect tithe and distribute it to the eligible asnaf (tithe recipients).
“I do not approve of any Muslims in Selangor who pay tithe directly to certain asnaf without going through LZS for fear of injustice and confusion to other eligible tithe recipients.
“So, I call on all Muslims to cooperate with the LZS to identify and channel the information on eligible asnaf so that immediate action can be taken,” he said when opening Dato’ Haji Kamaruddin Mosque before breaking the fast and presenting Raya donations to asnaf, the poor and Muslim converts here.
The Sultan also reminded mosque committee to discharge their responsibilities with integrity and in trustworthy manner, including when updating the records on mosque donations.
“Some mosques have a lot of fund and assets that need to be managed well and this is important because I do not want to hear anything about dishonest mosque committee members who swindle the donations received from the public,” he said, adding that such attitude would only tarnish the good image of mosques and Muslims as a whole. --BERNAMA
