    PETALING JAYA: Convicted Imperial College London student Nur Fitri Azmeer Nordin will not receive any form of sponsorship from Mara to continue his studies.
    In a statement on Friday, Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said the Ministry and Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) viewed Nur Fitri’s case gravely, adding that no appeal would be made against his conviction.
    “I do not support pornography, and I forcefully reject every activity related to it.
    “It is up to Nur Fitri’s family if they want to appeal on his behalf. No appeal is allowed for Nur Fitri to continue his studies under Mara’s sponsorship,” Shafie said.
    He added that every Mara scholar must obey the law, no matter where they are.
    Nur Fitri was arrested during a raid at his home in Queensborough Terrace near Hyde Park on Nov 20 last year.
    He pleaded guilty and began his jail sentence in April after being caught with more than 30,000 images and videos of children being abused, including “Category A” images which involving sexual penetration of children.
