Up to 15 Armed Men Rob Petronas Chief's House

Major GLC chief's house robbed, over half a million Ringgit in loot taken

PETALING JAYA: A break-in occurred at the house of a major government-linked company's president, as up to 15 armed men carted away luxury items such as watches and jewellery worth more than RM600,000 on Wednesday.
The 54-year-old man was in the master bedroom when the alarm at his residence in Taman Tun Abdul Razak, Kuala Lumpur went off at about 4.50am.
It prompted the man to check the closed-circuit television camera where he saw three men already in his house.
Shaken by the discovery, the victim locked his bedroom door but the robbers broke it down and got in.
One of the suspects held a parang to the victim's neck and demanded he show where his valuables were kept.
Brickfields police chief Asst Comm Muhammad Azlee Abdullah said the suspect told the victim to keep quiet if he did not wish to be harmed.
"They instructed him in Bahasa Indonesia. They fled as soon as they got what they wanted," he said.
A source told The Star that two auxiliary policemen who responded to the alarm were tied with cables by the suspects.
"Both of them were carrying a guns hidden inside their jackets. They were left unharmed," the source said.
It was believed that the suspects broke a window at the back of the house to gain access.
Although the residential area was guarded, the robbers managed to enter the premises from a nearby forest.
"The district police's K9 unit was the one that revealed the route used by the robbers," the source said.
Among the items were stolen were RM300,000 worth of jewellery, RM300,000 worth of luxury watches and four handphones.
ACP Muhammad Azlee said police dusted the house for fingerprints but have yet to find any.
"We believe that they wore gloves during the robbery. We cannot estimate their ages," he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code for gang robbery.
