KUALA LUMPUR: Hunky local actor Keith Foo was given a lecture and fined by a magistrate’s court for insulting a police officer.
The 32-year-old was charged with using abusive and insulting words on the traffic policeman.
Magistrate Nur’Aminahtul Mardiah Md Nor was stern in reprimanding the actor, known for his roles in local hit dramas Ariana Rose and Love You, Mr Arrogant.
“I believe my courtroom is filled with reporters today because you are ‘someone’.
“As a public figure, you should set an example for others. I hope this doesn’t happen again. This can also affect your career.
“The maximum fine for this offence is RM100 so I am giving you that,” she said.
Foo was charged yesterday charged under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955.
Earlier, when the charge was read to him, Foo, dressed in white shirt and black pants, nodded to show that he understood and pleaded guilty.
He was apologetic and promised not to repeat the offence. “I want to apologise for what I did. I truly regret this and it will not happen again,” he said.
His fiancee, entrepreneur Kim Raymond, was also present in court.

In the 4.30am incident on March 15, police stopped Foo at a roadblock at Jalan Davis in Dang Wangi.
The Mercedes Benz was being driven by his fiancee, who was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol.
She then tested positive for alcohol.
Foo had uttered the words, “Kau siapa, kau ingat kau polis besar sangat kah, bodoh(Who do you think you are, just because you are a policeman, do you think you are so powerful? Stupid.)
DPP Noor Svetlana Mohd Nordin said Foo had no prior record.
“However, he disrespected and insulted the authorities,” she said.
Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act states that any person who uses indecent, threatening, abusive or insulting words, or behaves in a threatening or insulting manner, is liable to a fine not exceeding RM100.
