Singapore Airlines’rolls out new Premium Economy Class from August.

SINGAPORE, May 21 — Wider seats, larger TV screens and an extensive range of food and beverage options, including advanced meal orders. These are some of the new features travellers can expect on Singapore Airlines’ new Premium Economy Class, rolling out from August.
Reintroduced after a two-year development programme and an investment of about US$80 million (RM288 million), the new seats on Premium Economy class were unveiled today.
The seats will have a width of either 18.5 or 19.5 inches depending on aircraft type, compared to their 18-inch-wide Economy class counterparts, along with an 8-inch recline and a seat pitch of 38 inches.
They will also have full leather finishing, a calf-rest, foot-bar and in-seat power supply for each seat, two USB ports, a personal in-seat reading light, cocktail table and increased stowage space for personal items.
Additionally, Premium Economy Class will allow customers to advance order a selection of main courses under the “Book the Cook” service, alongside an extensive range of food and beverage offerings.
Pre-flight, customers will get priority check-in and baggage handling with a baggage allowance of 35kg. KrisFlyer Frequent flyers will also get 10 per cent more miles when flying in Premium Economy class.
The in-flight entertainment experience has also been upgraded with active noise-cancelling headphones and a 13.3-inch full HD monitor, the largest in its class, Singapore Airlines said in a statement.
Singapore Airlines Executive Vice President Commercial Mak Swee Wah said: “Many of our customers have been asking for a Premium Economy offering and we are confident that what we are delivering will exceed their expectations.”
The new class will be progressively introduced on 19 Airbus A380s, 19 Boeing 777-300ERs and the first 20 Airbus A350s.
It will enter commercial service on Aug 9 to Sydney, before being introduced to other destinations such as Beijing, Delhi, Hong Kong, Frankfurt, London, Mumbai, New York, Shanghai, Tokyo and Zurich.— Today
